Three to sign books at Sundance

Sundance Books will hold a  book signing with Pickles comic-strip author Brian Crane (25 Years of Pickles), RGJ reporter and author Guy Clifton (Dempsey in Nevada), and children’s book author Jake Willers (Spooner the Bear) from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 19.

The authors

Pickles_0Crane is the recipient of the prestigious 2013 Reuben Cartoonist of the Year Award. Pickles appears in more than 900 newspapers worldwide and has been nominated twice for Best Comic Strip, winning in 2001. He lives in Sparks with his wife, and they are the proud parents of seven children and 14 grandchildren. His most recent collection is 25 Years of Pickles (2015, from Baobab Press, the publishing arm of Sundance Books and Music).

DempseyClifton is a senior reporter and columnist for the Reno Gazette-Journal,specializing in stories about Nevada and Nevadans. In addition to newspaper writing, he has written six books: a history of the Reno Rodeo; two volumes of You Know You’re A Nevadan If…Dempsey In Nevada (about former heavyweight boxing champion Jack Dempsey’s days in the Silver State); Johnson–Jeffries: Dateline Reno, a look at the 100th anniversary of the famous heavyweight-title fight; and Reno, a photographic history of Reno for Arcadia Publishing’s “Images of America” series.

Spooner the BearWillers is an international TV presenter, filmmaker, and author. He has traveled to over 30 countries and filmed in some of the most inhospitable places on earth. He has hosted 30 wildlife shows which have enjoyed success in 147 countries and have been translated into 25 languages, working with channels including National Geographic Channel International, Nat Geo Wild and Channel FIVE, UK. In 2007 he formed NineCaribou Productions, LLC, a production company dedicated to expanding people’s knowledge of wildlife and the world around us. Spooner the Bear is a children’s book about a young bear determined to change the trash-eating habits of his fellow neighborhood furry friends.
