From a Sundance Books and Music news release
Sundance Books and Music will be hosting local authors Mignon Fogarty (Grammar Girl), Christopher Coake (You Came Back), Ellen Hopkins (Smoke) and Mark Maynard (Grind) as guest booksellers on Nov. 29, Small Business Saturday. The authors will be in the store from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. chatting with customers and recommending their favorite books.
Hundreds of independent bookstores across the country will be hosting local authors for Small Business Saturday thanks to a movement called Indies First. Launched by noted author Sherman Alexie, Indies First encourages authors to volunteer at their local stores to give back some of the support that independent bookstores have traditionally given to authors.
Other participating Indies First stores and authors may be found on IndieBound.org.
Small Business Saturday, founded by American Express in 2010, is celebrated every year on the Saturday after Thanksgiving.
By registering an eligible American Express Card, a card member can get a $10 statement credit from American Express after he or she spends $10 or more in a single, in-store transaction at Sundance Books and Music on Small Business Saturday. Card members can take advantage of this offer up to three times for a total of up to $30 in statement credits at participating businesses. More information on the American Express program can be found at americanexpress.com/us/small-business/shop-small/.
